A Starry Night-
Social Gathering

As a group, we followed a creative process ourselves to see, how 4 people together receive an input, consciously put our thought process and come up with an outcome which provides new stimulus for the targeted audience. Here is a community gathering experiment that was done at NID.

Aim

To test the response of people when they don’t know the environment, people, or the form of data that they are going to receive do they still turn up for an event? Do they leave their convivial thought process for for some new experience?

Methodology

A personal flyer style invitation was sent to each participant from the Gratitude Card Experiment in order to invite them to a special screening wherein each of the participants gets the chance to interact with the ones they wrote letters to. This would provide closure to the activity, promote the actual inter-personal appreciation, reinforce positive relationships, provide new stimulus via movie in an unexpected space with new people and help in effectively relaxing the watcher. The movie we selected to scree was Yes Man directed by Peyton Reed, starring Jim Carrey. The Reason to show this movie to people was to Convey the concept of being open towards the possibilities of life, saying Yes to challenges and experiences. Taking into account the creative process, it is important for one to be more curious. It is encouraged to have newer inputs, data and knowledge.

Inference

The Starry Night brought about better understanding, improved bonds among friends and collogues and the ability to empathize/sense of reassurance from the community and a consequent effect on one’s mental well being in the state of a competitive academic setting.

“So, I spent the last few weeks thinking, lets chill.

We’re all caught up in the same old drill.

We are worried about our GP and DP

We keep planning, but we’re always sleepy

Let’s talk more, have more dialogues

Be it with anyone humans or dogs

Let’s sit and listen to stories

Rather than scrolling through them

Let’s do things, lets act

Rather than sending emojis to react

Let’s be active, and do things on the go,

Let’s meet new people, so much more to know

We left our homes, muffled through some cries,

Now this is home, and it’s time to say our goodbyes

So I want you to be there, you could come from anywhere, and I’ll listen to everything, you have to share.

You have to know there’s always someone who’ll care.”
